Operation Big Steel

During the first week in Sept 1999, from 1st to 5th, five stalwart Blue Steelers undertook Operation Big Steel to search the Blue Steel impact area for remains of the missiles.  Team members came from the spectrum of organisations involved in the Blue Steel project and were as follows:

   Keith Rendell EMI,  payload monitoring,
Terry Clark RAF/4 JSTU Radar - FRC
  Bryan Wetton RAF/4 JSTU Photographic
Dennis Pfeiffer AVRO Airborne observer and missile preparation
David Lloyd Elliotts Inertial Navigation analysis and airborne observer

 Where did it all happen?

As identified by Keith prior to the trip, the impact area is roughly shown by the pink area below TED just off the new Stuart Highway in the top left of the map.
