The 10 STEPS in using the program are:-

STEP 1

Select the folder your TMG project data files are in (each location is saved for later quick selection). 
 

STEP 2

The appropriate TMG database table or tables ( _I.dbf) will show in a combo box for your selection.

STEP 3

Produce a 'Summary of Exhibits' report so that you know what Exhibits you have deep down in your project.

You can also view a 'Chart of Exhibits' of the distribution.
 

Undertake some 'Global Changes'

- create a Catalogue of Exhibits

- change the drive letter for all existing images

- edit all images with your default editor from one screen using your usual favourite image editor

- renumber your exhibits to change the order in which they appear (e.g. in reports)

- delete unwanted exhibits from one screen by simply selecting each in a grid (list) environment

- create a file of details concerning exhibits for existing persons in your project and import in one operation

- Save the paths used by TMG for this project on this computer in a file to reuse them with one simple operation (e.g. if you're using TMG on several computers with different storage needs)

STEP 4

You can choose to work with a particular set of exhibits (filter).

STEP 5

Press the [Process] Button to put your choices into effect.

STEP 6

You can choose to preview or print a report of the EXISTING entries or write a text file to disk to save paper. Separate reports are available for each classification

STEP 7

Clicking the View/Change Item button

The existing path, file name and details for the chosen type of entries are presented in a grid. Just doubleclick on the item you wish to change the details for.

You will be offered a choice of changing just that entry or ALL entries having that original folder. You can also simply change the drive letter for a current folder.

You will be able to view exhibits both internal and external (provided they are accessible) with an image zoom capability.

You will also be able to modify the Topic, Reference ,Description and Caption fields from the same screen

Sound and movie exhibits will play as normal from this screen.

If you have an image editor or video editor associated you can choose to EDIT your exhibit files also.

OLE objects can be viewed also.

You can replace an image with a new one

 

STEP 8

The [Test-Update Records] button will insert the NEW information into the temporary database and show the number of entries updated.


You will be able to select a Changes Report also which is a log of each change made.

You can choose to go round again and change other details before 'committing'.

STEP 9

Once you are totally satisfied that you have ALL the correct entries you can press the [Commit] button which will put the whole temporary database to a  file (myproject_I.dbf).

STEP 10

If anything is not as wanted you can press [Revert] to use your original _I.dbf file again"
